AcroSage - the Cirque du Soleil of Massage
AcroSage is an acrobatic form of massage therapy that helps ease the pressure on the neck and spine. This unique form of inverted yoga massage will make you relax and feel good.
This inverted yoga massage was created by Benjamin Marantz, a professional acrobat and circus performer. In the 1980s, Marantz started testing out massage techniques on other circus performers. After suffering from a back injury himself, he discovered that when he hung in an upside down frog pose certain healing pressure points were activated on his face. He soon started testing the technique out on other circus performers. Then he trademarked the techniques and started teaching it to others.
The client is held upside down by the therapist's feet as the therapist massages pressurepoints on the face and body. It combines principles of shiatsu and acupressure with yoga. In some ways it's similar to Thai massage, but a bit more high flying in nature.
This massage technique is good for:
- relaxing and decompressing the spine
- increasing circulation
- bringing extra oxygen to the brain
- stretching the entire body
- activating the pineal gland
- vertigo
- glaucoma
- detached retina
